Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2013 Meets Campers Village
I’m not sure if you read my written word on Fashion Collections or not but if you have yet to read my full review on the men’s Louis Vuitton Spring 2013 collection please allow me to fill you in. You’re probably guessing from the “Campers Village” reference that I wasn’t particularly fond of the trying to be nylon hiking clothes, and you’d be right. I wasn’t particularly fond of them… they were fit for a running team and way too sporty for my liking. When did the master of trunk making and supreme suiting start to develop racing clothing? I’m lost.
When looking at the sportsy-ish pieces from this line I thought to myself… Self… is this a diffusion line? Because I’m pretty sure it’s not. And that means that I have either slipped into an alternate universe where Louis Vuitton actually launched his business off of sports gear and instead of luxurious lining on hand crafted luggage he was focusing on moisture wicking technical fabrics and the like. BAH!
The athletic high dive was one example of designers Kim Jones oversight with the collection, the other came when he was trying to create this patch-worky type suity thing… the casual looking garments were a cute combination of unwashed man and romping in the dirt. When you picure the satchel of a homeless person tied into a stork’s sack and attached to a long stick over their shoulder, think of the material of the bag, now picture that making up the full suit for a man. Now you have one of the looks that walked the men’s spring 2013 Louis Vuitton line.
I just don’t get it. I see this and I wonder to myself… am I completely out to lunch? Is it me who misunderstands this line? Or did the designer have an off last few months because his Fall 2012 line was amazing but this… this? I don’t get this.
